A Day at The Dog Park

There were no better best friends then Sully and Muddles. They were different in so many ways but brothers just the same.

It was a wonderful warm fall day and Sully laid in a pile of leaves as Muddles romped around, fluffing the leaves with his tail and then jumping back in with his big feet.

"Sully, I have an idea, lets go to the dog park today." said Muddles with a big smile, his tail wagging hard.

"OK with me, lets go." said Sully jumping up sending the leaves everywhere.

And with that they both jumped up and headed off through the town, down past the ice cream store and the post office where people waved at the two and smiled at them, everyone knew and loved the two brothers.

The park was full this day with all sorts of dogs, running, playing tag and just laying about under the trees.

Sully and Muddles ran into the park, tails wagging, ears flapping. Sully was an extra large Newfoundland, and he loved his little brother very much. His people had brought Muddles home from the pound a few months earlier. Muddles was very short, very long, with a very big head and small ears, huge feet and a tail that never stopped wagging and Sully loved his brother very much.

Soon a large handsome Great Dane came over and asked Sully to play with the other big dogs.

"Can I bring my Brother? "Sully asked.

"Sure is he big like you?", the Great Dane smiled.

Just then Muddles poked his head out between Sully's legs. The Great Dane looked down at the funny looking small dog, frowned and said "No, he is to small to play with us."

"If Muddles can't play with us then I am not playing because my brother is really big, he has the biggest heart I have ever met and a smile to match." Sully stood looking at the Great Dane eye to eye.

"Okay do what you want then." and the Great Dane turned on his heals and walked away.

"Thanks Sully, your the best brother ever." Muddles said still standing between Sully's legs looking up at him.

Sully smiled back and said "Dogs and people should never be judged by how big they are but how big their hearts are, and Muddles you have the biggest heart of anyone one I have ever met."

"Race you to that pile of leaves!", and with that Muddles darted off as Sully lumbered behind smiling knowing he had the best brother ever even if they didn't look alike or share the same parents.

Keep your fingers crossed this is the story I just entered in a Cheerios writing contest...crossed crossed, Alex's writing bug has bitten!

Politics and Fido

...a Latin name meaning "I am faithful." As such it is a terrific name for the average protective and loyal family dog. However, it gets its popularity from a celebrity tie-in. Apparently, Abraham Lincoln, a largely self-educated but very erudite man, named his dog Fido. Americans followed suit in droves, putting the dog name Fido firmly in the top 20 names. Lincoln’s choice of Fido for his dog’s name was perfectly logical. Fido is the Latin for faithful, which when dealing with any pet dog is entirely appropriate
