The perfect tree cutting

Shocked would be an accurate term when Julius proclaimed my Christmas trees "plastic", although he was right I had always preferred the term artificial, it sounded so much realer. We were properly chastised for losing the Christmas spirit, (which we had). It was then agreed the following Saturday we would go out into the woods and cut a tree down.

Saturday morning arrived and so did our first snow. Picture perfect we all donned our tree cutting clothes after much needed help from mom. Julius had sweat pants and a T shirt, Alex a button down, new leather loafers and dress pants, Dave well if you know Dave he was dressed equally as interesting. So they were all sent back to their closets for more sensible apparel grumbling along the way. Soon we were on our way, Snow falling think and heavy in those dream like flakes. We sang Christmas Carols and laughed all the way.

Finally at our destination we walk aisle after aisle looking for the right tree, dozens of trees later as ice was forming on my ear lobes, it was plainly decide the next tree will do. The saw was passed from man to man, OK not, but it made for a good scene right. Alex was exploring and Julius had slipped and had a pants full of snow trying to shake it out as he hoped between the tree aisles yelling. The other peaceful picture sounds better right? Well with a few strokes of the saw David had cut the tree down and we dragged it back to the car.

Snow continued to fall the rest of the evening where I took the wife position of decorating the tree. Everyone started but in the end I was there. I sat back in front of the fireplace admiring my work, inhaling the deep real pine aroma and realized it had been absolutely the perfect tree cutting day and real was better then "plastic".

Politics and Fido

...a Latin name meaning "I am faithful." As such it is a terrific name for the average protective and loyal family dog. However, it gets its popularity from a celebrity tie-in. Apparently, Abraham Lincoln, a largely self-educated but very erudite man, named his dog Fido. Americans followed suit in droves, putting the dog name Fido firmly in the top 20 names. Lincoln’s choice of Fido for his dog’s name was perfectly logical. Fido is the Latin for faithful, which when dealing with any pet dog is entirely appropriate
