Friday and Dogtown

Although I have been writing my blog only a few months now. I have been very lucky to be accepted into the Best Friends group as a writer for the Mid Atlantic Region!
Tonight I will get to see exactly who I write with and for. Dog Town the series on the National Geographic Channel starts at 9 pm and it is about the Best Friends Organization.
After viewing information about the Best Friends Organization I think it might make for a great family trip, or one that my friend Nancy and I can make. Apparently people go out there and volunteer to care for these animals on their vacations. OK so it looks more like a Nancy and Tammy trip then a family trip. However with my family I am not sure, I think Alex would be a little irritated if I got to go out and hang with 500 dogs on vacation and he had to stay home.
So if you have noting going on and you want to see a unique group of people doing some incredible work volunteering tune on National Geographic channel tonight at 9 PM. https://www.bestfriends.org/dogtown/index.cfm?csid=2759&csii=2763&csit=Set

Politics and Fido

...a Latin name meaning "I am faithful." As such it is a terrific name for the average protective and loyal family dog. However, it gets its popularity from a celebrity tie-in. Apparently, Abraham Lincoln, a largely self-educated but very erudite man, named his dog Fido. Americans followed suit in droves, putting the dog name Fido firmly in the top 20 names. Lincoln’s choice of Fido for his dog’s name was perfectly logical. Fido is the Latin for faithful, which when dealing with any pet dog is entirely appropriate
