Don, incredible, awe inspiring, I want to grow up and be him. We first met Don at Lab Rescue, he brought Rupert to us, (another story) and a friendship was formed, we were drawn together like moths to the same flame, the plight of discarded and abused animals. Don starts at Ohio State this fall studying Vet Medicine. He has been part adopter, part dog taxi, part volunteer, and many other parts. Just when you think you have reached a goal another one is set by someone else like Don.

Today Mckenzie went from a lonely life on the railway tracks to a bed at a hotel
May 21, 2008 : 1:43 AM
Today McKenzie went from a lonely life on the railway tracks to a bed at our volunteer's hotel. This poor girl was seen by KAT 5 volunteer Bob when he was trapping for Theo last week. Bob tried to catch her throughout that night. Some children said that they knew of this dog and other kids were throwing rocks and sticks at her. Earlier tonight Don and Bob trapped this poor girl now named McKenzie. Locals say that they are relieved that we have taken her because they have been worried about her safety for the past year that she has been in the area. A source on the scene said that dog fighters have been trying to trap her. There was a makeshift trap along the fence-line.McKenzie will need some TLC. Tonight she is sleeping on a bed at KAT 5 volunteer Don's hotel and asking for pets. McKenzie is taking treats from people's hands. McKenzie is the the 4th abused rot that we have rescued during our search for Theo. (One, Roxie, is at rescue now so we have 3 to place once they are vetted).Theo is still at large. Traps are being set and we are very hopeful. As of 12:32 AM an animal was seen almost going into the trap but ran away. Don thinks that it may have been Theo...http://network.bestfriends.org/kat5/news/25633.html

KAT 5 transports sweet Dane for our friends at Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue in Ohio
May 16, 2008 : 11:18 PM
Yesterday, KAT 5 volunteer Don picked up a Great Dane named Hayley from a kill shelter. Don transported her safely
to our friends at Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue in Bethel, Ohio. Hayley has a club foot and will need medical evaluation. She may need to have her leg amputated. But Hayley is a sweet girl, and her Dane personality will see her through it. In any event, the ten hour round trip was certainly worth Hayley's life.Funds are needed to pay for Hayley's care and recovery.
